Europe June '08 Part 5/12 - Cannes

Just a short stop at Cannes, en route to Nice. Only spent a couple of hours here so not too many shots were taken.

The quiet side of the beach..

..and the not-so-quiet side of the beach

The very very lovely Audi RS4, together with its overly outrageous wheel arches

Pink Panther's paw on show at Cannes!

The street with a million (well almost) traffic lights. I don't want to imagine how traffic will be at peak hours when none of the lights are green

I've finally decided that there will be 12 parts for the entire Europe set. Next in line shall be Nice.

Also, wishing all readers a happy new year, wherever you'll be spending it at, and whoever you'll be spending it with! Next set of updates will be in January, hopefully.

Europe June '08 Part 4/12 - Montreux

Beautiful beautiful Montreux. I was absolutely awestruck by it. I particularly loved the blue surroundings here (which explains why most of the pictures in this set are all dominated by the colour blue).

Viva la Freddie

Go on, take a dive. You know you want to

"When I grow up, I'm gonna be just like Freddie!"

The Château de Chillon

This here is a shithole. A very very deep shithole

Not too many captions in this set because I believe the pictures speak for themselves.
Next in line - Cannes, Nice and Monaco, as we travel along the French Riviera.

A day in the life of a trainee banker

Been pretty caught up with work of late so I've been finding it difficult to post any new stuff. I actually took these pictures some time ago but never got around to putting it up due to time constraints (assignments and tests grr). But since this is my first commitment-free Sunday in a long long time, I figured I'd at least put this set up.

The shots to come is a summary of a typical day at work. They were all taken with my phone's camera so the quality is abysmally terrible, but do bear with me (sidenote: taking donations for a new sony camera phone).

The day starts at 6:30am (even earlier now that I've been rotated to Research)

After showering and breakfasting, it's off I go. Smart tunnel for Smart people.

One of the better views on the way to work. I do not normally drive this dangerously btw :P

Inside the horribly bumpy Smart tunnel.

Out of the tunnel, into the jam along one end of Jalan Sultan Ismail. Fortunately the wait is only 5 minutes tops

Daylight robbery QQ (it's RM9 btw)

On the lift in Wisma Genting. Level 3 is where I hop off (Level 2 starting Monday!)

Morning meetings at 8. Yours truly will be having a hand at preparing the stuff to be said at such meetings

That's my desk at L3. It's not even 8:30am so I am still entitled to surf unrelated sites I believe :P

That's what a typical classroom session looks like. Classes ended last Friday

Zipping forward in time (and cutting out all the boring regulatory talk), it's 5:30pm. Punctuality at its finest, and it's off I go

Smart-ing home again

@*&*$!@()*)(%*(^&*@&(!*&

Post-dinner, shower and checking mails/replying messages, 10:30pm means it's time to go to bed. Sleep, wake up the next day, and the grind repeats itself

So that's how a typical day goes. Some of these will probably change as I rotate across different departments but I suppose it'll still be as grindful as ever.

The Montreux shots.. next week maybe? :P

Wrongful categorization

It would appear that I organized some pictures wrongly.
The last 3 pictures of Part 2 (Beaune) actually belongs to Geneva.
Sekian.

Europe June '08 Part 3/12 - Geneva

Sorry for the long hiatus. It's hard enough to fit in time to meet up for some tea, let alone upload pictures to the blog.

Elderly men playing with huge blocks of chess

Here's a picture of some significant part of Geneva's history. Pity I couldn't remember which one though :P

A giant clock made out of flowers!

Memory fails me again, oh dear

Lake Geneva (Euro 2008 fever still on, hence the giant football on the right)

The Jet d'Eau. Didn't get to see it at night due to summer's massively long daylight hours

The Swiss Alps, ever prominent in every part of Geneva

Some of the houses overlooking Lake Geneva

Mr. Bee working hard in summer

Geneva is a really nice place (except for how French is the main language there). I'm sure it'll look even more gorgeous in winter, when the mountain peaks are covered with snow. Who knows, maybe I'll go there again sometime in the near future, but this time not following a tour group. It's somewhat potong stim as a photographer because you'd have to abide by all their (usually unforgiving) time schedules.

But in any case, next set will be of Montreux, on another side of Lake Geneva.

Before and After

Recently busy punya hal, I've not been able to find the time to photoshop my yet-to-be-posted pictures and I do apologize. Neither do I have any idea as to when I can find the time to sit down and work on it. But in place of that, I'll give a little update on the current state of things.

'nuff said.

Europe June '08 Part 2/12 - Beaune

Beaune, France. We stopped here just for a short while enroute to Geneva so not an awful lot was done here.

Euro 2008 fever still in full swing when this picture was taken

St. Pierre's Cathedral in Geneva

Front entrance of St. Pierre's

Not too many captions because I forgot what the places names' are already :P
Part 3 will be Geneva/Montreux shots!

Edit - Last 3 pictures are actually taken in Geneva, not Beaune
